XENIA — Alberta Mae Ford, age 94, of Xenia, and formerly of Jamestown, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014. She was born April 26, 1919 in Sabina, Ohio, one of four children born to Pearl and Dora (Butler) Smith. Alberta had worked at J.C. Penney's for several years prior to owning Ford's Flowers and Gifts in Jamestown. She played the piano and organ at the New Jasper Methodist Church for over 30 years. Alberta had been a resident of the Otterbein Retirement Community for over 22 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Ford in 2002; 2 brothers: Donald and Wendall Smith; a son-in-law: Gary Bradds and a daughter-in-law: Julia Ford. Alberta is survived by her children: Ellen (Paul) Davidson and Eileen (Richard) Bennington, both of Xenia; and Charles W. "Bill" (Tara) Ford of VA; grandchildren: Chris (Susan) Humphrey of Lexington, KY; Eric Humphrey of KY; David (Michelle) Bradds of Jamestown; Melinda (Randy) Hudson; Lori (Dwayne) Rudduck; Mark (Channin) Ford; Nick (Jennifer) Ford; Mark (Sheri) Bennington; Darrin Bennington; 17 great grandchildren; a sister: Marjean S. McColaugh of Xenia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Alberta will be missed by anyone with whom she ever came into contact. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, February 3rd at Faith Community United Methodist Church, 100 Country Club Drive, Xenia with Pastor Jim Ludwick officiating. Interment to follow in Silvercreek Cemetery, Jamestown. Her family will receive friends Sunday from 2-4 pm at the McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia.
