FAIRBORN Herbert C. "Herb" Davis, age 78 of Fairborn, passed away Monday September 3, 2012. He was born March 21, 1934 in Johnson Co., Kentucky, the son of the late James Herbert and Alka (Sadler) Davis. Herb was employed with General Motors as a tool and die maker, retiring in 1982; and was a minister for over 50 years at many churches. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lionel, Dan E., Clarence; and a sister, Mildred. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna; two sons, Jerry (Kay) Davis, Rick (Kathy) Davis; a grandson, Jerry, Jr. (Jamie) Davis; four step-grandchildren, Lisa, Lori, Lauren, Katie; six step great-grandchildren; four sisters, Pauline Baldwin, Alice Pack, Kathy Causy, and Ruth Stamper; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and many friends; and a puppy, Sweetie. One of Herb's hobbies was woodworking and he made many beautiful items and gifts. He also enjoyed playing the violin and singing while Anna played the piano with him. He will be greatly missed among all who knew him. A faithful soldier has now gone home! The family will receive friends on Thursday September 6, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Friday September 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M., Rev. Robert Legg officiating. Interment will follow in Byron Cemetery.
