FAIRBORN Emory L. Spears, 83, passed away with his family by his side on October 27, 2012, at the Life Care Center of Sierra Vista, Arizona. He was born on September 10, 1929, to the late Effie and Jack Spears of Wrigley, Kentucky.
Emory resided in Fairborn, Ohio for 55 years and then moved to Sierra Vista, Arizona, in 2008 to be closer to his family. He served for three years in the United States Army during the Korean War and received the Purple Heart Medal. He retired after 25 years from U.S. Steel Corporation in Fairborn, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, billiards and blue grass music.
Emory is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Reva Spears; his son, Garry L. (Linda) Spears; his daughter, Kim Spears Kelley all of Sierra Vista, Arizona; one brother, Virgil Spears of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Toni Spears Dixon and Laura Spears; two grandsons, Garry Spears, Jr. and Max Spears; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Harlan Banks, Lonnie Banks, Brack Spears, David Spears, Frank Spears, Leonard Spears and John M. Spears. A private ceremony and burial will be held at the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, adjacent to Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
