Malcolm Tabackman, 80, of Cheshire, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26th, 2016 at Masonicare in Wallingford, Connecticut due to complications of Myodesplastic Syndrome (MDS).
Malcolm was born in New Haven, Connecticut on August 17th, 1936. He grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut attending Grasmere Grammar School. He graduated from Fairfield Prep High School in 1954 and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Arts from New York University in 1958 and received his Master of Science in criminology from Southern Connecticut University in 1974. He also took courses at the University of Paris in France.
Malcolm was married to Roni (Pehr) Tabackman, originally of Givatayim, Israel, on January 19th, 1969; they were happily married for nearly 48 years. They were residents of Meriden, Connecticut for nearly 20 years and also resided in Hamden, Boca Raton, Florida, North Haven and Cheshire, Connecticut
Malcolm worked as a parole officer for the State of Connecticut for 25 years, serving in the juvenile division in Middletown, and retiring from the state in 1992. He enjoyed listening to classical music, reading, walking and hiking, bicycling, watching news, following current events and international politics especially in Israel. Malcolm was a veteran as he joined the U.S. Army and served for 18 months in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Malcolm is survived by his wife Roni of Cheshire, son Aaron of Astoria, New York, a brother, Leonard Tabackman of Branford, a brother-in-law, Daniel Pehr of Givatayim, Israel and nephews Harold Tabackman of Fort Mill, South Carolina and Joshua Tabackman of Branford.
Malcolm was pre-deceased by his parents Harold Tabackman and Evelyn (Chernack) Tabackman and a brother Bruce Tabackman all of Fairfield, Connecticut.
Funeral Services were held at the Centerville Cemetery, 247 Washington Ave., Hamden on Friday, December 30th at 10 a.m. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the M.D.S. Fdt., 4573 S.
