LUMBERTON - Retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Rogers Vernon Morice Sr., age 86, of Lumberton, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, in the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 6, 1926, in St. Louis, to the late Robert Morice and the late Freda Meyer Morice. He proudly served his country for 30 years in the Navy and the Air Force. Mr. Morice is survived by his wife, Evelyn Oxendine Morice of the home; two sons, Rogers Vernon Morice Jr. and wife, Lynn, of St. Louis, and Richard "Dick" Morice of Cibolo, Texas; a daughter, Michele "Shell" Morice of St. Louis; a brother, Robert "Bud" Morice of Wildwood, Mo.; a sister, Jackie Morice of Florrisant, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Jourdanne Morice and Richard Morice Jr. A time of visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, 809 E. 5th St., Lumberton. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
