FAYETTEVILLE - Beatrice T. Blair, 95, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2013. She was born in Sampson County to the late L. Frank and Mamie Tew. Mrs. Blair was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 in Temple Baptist Church in Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. A visitation will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. She is survived by her son, George Blair and his wife, Linda, of Tulsa, Okla.; daughters, Kay Jackson, Martha Couey and Bernadine Couey, all of Fayetteville; sister, Daphine Honeycutt and brother, Ellis Tew, both of Salemburg; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Donald W. Blair, a grandson, two sisters and seven brothers. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the Temple Baptist Church Children's Ministries. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

HOPE MILLS - Mr. Ernest Harold Brewington Sr., 69, Hope Mills, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 19, 2013. He was the owner operator of American Carpets and Interiors, and also Carpet One of Fayetteville for 46 years, where he prided himself on providing the best service for his customers and his employees. Mr. Brewington was born and raised in Fayetteville and became a prominent member of Cumberland County. He served as a member of the Homebuilders Association, North Carolina Flooring Association and on the Board for Community Concerts. Mr. Brewington was a father figure and mentor to many and a friend to everyone. Mr. Brewington is survived by his wife, Evelyn Brewington; two sons, Lee Brewington and Jeremy Brewington of Hope Mills; two daughters, Sabrina Brewington and Shannon Hardin of Hope Mills; two brothers, Ronald Brewington and Donald Brewington of Fayetteville; four sisters, Peggy Jacobs of Fayetteville, Julia Spiesberger of Fayetteville, Earnestine Buff of Conover and Cathy Hutchins of Jamestown; nine grandchildren; and beloved special friend, Bentley, his dog. Mr. Brewington is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest and Virginia Brewington; sons, Ernest Harold Brewington Jr. and Paul A. Mills; and two brothers, Horace Brewington and Ricky Brewington. The family received friends Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at noon today in Northwood Temple. Interment will follow in Fayetteville Memorial Cemetery. Services entrusted to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, of Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE - U.S. Air Force Ret. Tech. Sgt. Richard James Fleming, 75, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Cumberland County to the late Eddie Fleming and Mary K. Armstrong Fleming. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran with over 20 years of service. He was also a retired deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department with over 20 years of service. He was a devoted member of St. Pauls in the Pines Episcopal Church for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Penelope J. Fleming, of Fayetteville; two sons, Timothy J. Fleming of Fayetteville and Randal J. Fleming and wife, Timi, of Fayetteville; a daughter, Lori Fleming Evans, and husband, Michael, of Raeford; a sister, Ann M. Gore, of Fayetteville; and two grandsons, Andrew Evans and Justin Evans. A memorial service will be conducted at 5 p.m. today in St. Pauls in the Pines Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Thomas Frazier officiating. Services will conclude with the rendering of full military honors. Immediately after the services a visitation and reception will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Pauls in the Pines Episcopal Church c/o stained glass fund 1800 St. Paul Ave., Fayetteville, NC 28304. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Delton Jacobs; two sons, Blake Jacobs and Matthew Jacobs and wife, Chelsea; a grandson, Kyle Jacobs; her mother, Nancy Pierson; her father and wife, Harry and Betty Clark; four brothers, Tommy Clark, Nelson Clark, Gene Clark and Joseph Clark; and two sisters, Wendy Dunn and Carmen Clark. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Revels Funeral Home of Lumberton.

FAYETTEVILLE - Harvey Mayer, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013. Harvey was originally from Chicago. He was a man of varied talents and a rich history. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War, a studio photographer and an actor. For a number of years Harvey was a buyer for Kelly-Springfield from which he retired. He was an original member of Fayetteville Little Theatre, which became Cape Fear Regional Theatre, and he continued his involvement over a great part of the theatre's 51 years, appearing most recently in productions of the 50th Anniversary Season. His work as an actor took him to theatres in the southeastern U.S., as well as England. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) having appeared in TV's "Young Indiana Jones" and the movie "Hudsucker Proxy" with Paul Newman. A memorial will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. in Cape Fear Regional Theatre, 1209 Hay Street.
