Andrew Hobbs Obituary

DURHAM - Andrew Weston Hobbs, 1-month-old infant, of Durham, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009. Andrew was born Oct. 1, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, to Gene and Becky Hobbs. Andrew was a brave boy with more courage and strength than one could imagine. He meant more to his family in his short life than can be explained in words. We hope that his example in life will allow others to appreciate the time they have with their own loved ones. We will forever love you, Andrew, and live for the moment we can be with you again in Heaven. Andrew is survived by his parents; grandparents, Tom and Carol Glass of Lakeland, Fla., Jack Jones of Astor, Fla., and Gene and Carlotta Hobbs of Fayetteville; aunts and uncles, Bryan and Susan O'Steen of Lakeland, Fla., and Joshua and Katie McEwen of Lakeland. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Andrew's name be made to either The Association of Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Research, Awareness, and Support (CHERUBS), www.cdhsupport.org, or The Parker Reese Foundation, P.O. Box 2199, Elizabethtown, NC 28337. Please include "Andrew Hobbs Memorial" on the memo line of your check. For further information, please visit www.baby andrewhobbs.blogspot.com. A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, in the chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham. Dr. Benji Kelley presided. Online memorials may be sent to www.hallwynne.com. I am so very sorry for your loss. I have kept all of your family in my prayers since you learned there might be a problem with Andrew. I rejoiced with each small success and grieve with you that his time with you was cut short. He was loved and prayed for by so many and touched so many lives during his time here before he went to be with Jesus. I know that God will give you the strength to get through the days ahead and I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers.

As a friend of Andrew's Grandmother, Carol Glass, I can say that this little man touched many lives. My husband and I cried when we saw that he had passed on to go and be with Jesus. Jesus snatched him away to be with Him. One day we will understand.
