FAYETTEVILLE - Ms. Lois Geraldine Feuchter Whitmeyer, 81, of 3002 Hammerfest Circle, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Lois Whitmeyer was born Aug. 10, 1931, in Cranford, N.J. She lived a full and wonderful life and did so many amazing things, including her role as Miss Lois of Romper Room fame in Michigan. Lois also volunteered for many different community efforts and discovered her love of painting later in life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest N. Whitmeyer. She is survived by two sons, Arthur L. Whitmeyer of Dallas and his wife, Robin, and daughter Allison; and James J. Whitmeyer of Wilmington and his wife, Sheila; and a sister, Margie, of New Jersey. Her family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Sajjad Malick and the staff of the Cape Fear Valley Cancer Center for their care and compassion. They would also like to thank the staff of the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center. A very special thanks to all special friends and neighbors in the Gates Four Community who meant so much to Lois and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundations Friends of the Cancer Center, 1638 Owen Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304, or to the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center, 2431 Legion Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306. A memorial Mass will be held at noon Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 5050 Oak St., Hope Mills.
