Mary Ann Coffield Obituary
FAYETTEVILLE - Mary Ann Coffield, 81, died June 9 at The Crossings in Hoke Country after a long bout with Alzheimer's Disease. A native of St. Clairsville, Ohio, she graduated from The Ohio State University and White Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio, in 1958 and worked for many years at Nationwide Children's Hospital there before moving to Fayetteville in 1982. She gave anesthesia at Cape Fear Valley and the Fayetteville Ambulatory Surgery Center until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and served on the Altar Guild and numerous committees including Communications, Ministries Fair, Stewardship, Parish Family Life, and Pastoral Care. She also sang for many years with the Cumberland Oratorio Singers and served on its board of directors as president for two terms. She was an early member of the Friends of Music at Methodist serving a term as its president as well. She is survived by brothers Harry, Herbert, and Jesse of Ohio and Alfred of New York State, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and her friend, Gert Eyman, with whom she shared a home in Fayetteville. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church at a date to be announced. Memorials may be directed to St. John's or to the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society.
