GODWIN - The Rev. Wesley Arnold Maynor, 63, of Godwin, departed this life Saturday, March 17, 2012. Mr. Maynor was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Sampson County to Wesley Golden Maynor and the late Virginia Frances Goodman Maynor. He attended Eastern Carolina Indian School and graduated from Clement High School in 1967. Arnold served in the Navy and attended Sampson Technical Community College. He was employed by Kelly-Springfield Tire Co. and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., from which he retired in 2009 after 36 years of service. After retirement, he was employed by the Coharie Intra-Tribal Council Inc., where he dedicated his life to the community and the Indian people. On March 13, 1971, Arnold married the love of his life, Rebecca Brewington, and together they shared three children, Ronald Allen Maynor, Jennifer Renee Maynor and Stephen Ray Maynor. After accepting the call to minister, the Rev. Maynor pastored Eastside Church of God, Northside Church of God, East Maxton Church of God, Faith Chapel Church of God and McDonald Church of God. Arnold dedicated his life to God, family, friends and anyone in need. He was a member of the National Tractor Pulling Association, where he enjoyed his favorite hobby, truck and tractor pulling. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca B. Maynor of the home; two sons, Ronald Allen Maynor and wife Barbara of Fayetteville and Stephen Ray Maynor of Salemburg; a daughter, Jennifer Renee Lopez and husband Anibal of Horse Shoe; three grandsons, Zavier Maslin Siweumptewa, Daniel Ivan Lopez-Vazquez and Omar Riquelmer Lopez-Vazquez, all of Horse Shoe; his father, Wesley Golden Maynor of Falcon; mother-in-law, Eloise Simmons Brewington of Clinton; three brothers, Joseph McCray Maynor and wife, Patricia of Godwin, Phil Dexter Maynor and wife Kimberly of Summerville, S.C., and Timothy Martin Maynor and wife Melinda of Godwin; a sister, Rita Lane Maynor Eads and husband Terry of Dunn; and a host of family and friends. Arnold was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Frances Goodman Maynor; and a brother, Gary Dewitt Maynor. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church on Autry MIll Road in Godwin, with the Rev. Eddie Smith, the Rev. Christopher C. Allen Jr., and Bishop Glenn Vann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Monday, March 19, 2012, at Cromartie-Miller & Lee Funerals and Cremations in Dunn, or at the home at 423 Stewart Road, Godwin.
