Attica - James Russell Grisham, 81, Attica, passed away at the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Thursday, November 15, 2012, at 10:45 p.m.

James was born in Davenport, Iowa, on September 20, 1931. He was the son of the late John C. and Gladys M. (Russell) Grisham. He was raised in Davenport, Iowa and lived there through the 40s. Following graduation he later lived in the Minneapolis vicinity in the 50s and 60s and attended the University of Minnesota. From 1975 until 2007, James lived and worked in Yuma, Ariz. Following his retirement he moved to Attica where he has been residing.
James served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955. At the time of his honorable discharge he had attained the rank of Corporal.
James had worked as an engineering technician in the Public Works Division for the US Army Yuma Proving Ground for ten years. He retired in 1993. He later worked as maintenance manager for the Paradise Casino in Yuma, Ariz.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 3318 of Attica.
He was formerly married to Marilyn Tweed. He later married Theresa Meyer on September 26, 1975 in Yuma, Ariz. She survives.
He also leaves behind a daughter, Cynthia Stilson and a son, Brian Grisham, both of Cambridge, Minn.; a grandson, Nicholas Stilson and two granddaughters, Jennifer (Brett) Mahrer and Rebecca (Matt) Cederberg, all of Minnesota; six great-grandchildren; an uncle, Forrest Russell, of Iowa and a cousin, Wayne Russell, of Ohio; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael and a sister, Janet McCall.
Friends may gather at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Attica, on Monday, Nov. 26, from 10:30 a.m. until time for the funeral mass at noon with Rev. David Rasner officiating. A rosary for the family will be recited at 10 a.m. Inurnment with military honors will be held in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Attica.
Memorial contributions may be made for Masses or to the V.F.W. Post # 3318 of Attica.
