BATON ROUGE, LA. - Robert Lee Balliet age 82 of Baton Rouge, La. died early Monday, February 18, 2013 in the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson, La. He had been in failing health.

He was born April 4, 1930 in McCall, Idaho son the late Harry Stuart and Katherine Mary Hardman Balliet.
On October 2, 1954 he married Vivian Maurine Palin, who was raised the Newtown/Mellott area, in Reno, Nevada. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2004.
Bob graduated from Donnelly-McCall High School in McCall, Idaho. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge he attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. and employed by General Electric. His job carried him and wife to many locations thoughout the United States, most recently Carriere, Mississippi, Russellville, Arkansas, Mahomet, Illinois and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Bob was a licensed private pilot and enjoyed aviation. He also was an avid photographer.
'Uncle Bob' as he was known by all, is survived by: very special friends, Ricky and Theba Norris and their families of Baton Rouge, La, sister-in-laws, Ruth Maxine Nourse of Hubert, N.C., Earline Palin of Mellott, Mildred (Richard) Martin of New Richmond, Marlyn Pierce of Indianapolis and Lin Palin of Louisville, Ky., and brother-in-law Gale Pierce of Jamestown. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister Erma.
Burial with graveside services was held February 24 in New Richmond Cemetery with Pastor Richard Carty officiating. Military graveside Honors by Crawfordsville Posts of the American Legion and VFW. Family and Friends Funeral Home are handling arrangements.
