VEEDERSBURG - Straudy C. Gossett Jr. went to meet his Lord, Thursday May 30, 2013, at St. Franciscan Hospital in Lafayette.

Straudy was the first of ten children born to Martha Estella (Mitchell) and Straudy C. Gossett Sr. in Tangier on May 3, 1937.
He graduated from Terre Haute Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, May 23, 1970. He had worked as a semi truck driver, Veedersburg and Kingman Police Officer and then started his own business: Straudy Gossett Tree Trimming, Topping, and Removal.
He enjoyed many hobbies throughout the years including: raccoon hunting, dog racing, horses, motorcycles, playing his guitar and singing. His dogs were his most treasured companions.
He was preceded in death by his father Straudy Sr., mother Stella Bridge, stepfather Everett Bridge, brothers Glen and Ray Gossett, and brother-in -law James Graham.
Straudy is survived by his wife of 40 years Roselyn L. Gossett, siblings Mary Catherine Graham (Tangier), Martha Jane White (Attica), Helen Thomas and Ron (Tangier), Elizabeth Ann Larimer and Lenard (Gibson City,IL), Rommy Gossett and John (Terre Haute), Betty Gearhart and Calvin (Kingman), Roy Gossett and Sandy (Crawfordville). Seven children Brenda Kinsley and Bill (Crawfordsville), Jeffrey Gossett and Melissa (Lafayette), James Gossett and LouAnn (Kingman), Jenene Stricklin and Loran (Mahomet,IL), Rachel McMahan and Scott (Veederburg), Roselyn Blankenship and Jim (Hillsboro), April Gossett (Waynetown). Thirteen grandchildren , twenty-two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. By his request, he gave the greatest gift by donating his body to science via Life Legacy Foundation (Chicago).
A memorial service was held Sunday June 2, at Covington Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Rich Stadler and Tom Hunter.
