COVINGTON - Thelma P. (Parker) Powell, age 99 of Covington died at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 in her home of 67 years.

Thelma was born on June 16, 1914 in Fairmount, Ill. She was the daughter of A.J. and Rose Ann (Pulliam) Parker. She graduated from high school in Marshall. On Aug. 2, 1941 she married James L. Powell and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2001 after 60 years of marriage.
Thelma was a farm wife with everything that entails since 1946. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Covington and was baptized there in 1946.
Surviving are children, William (Norma) VanVactor of Covington and Brenda (Glen Andrew) Powell of Montrose, Colo.; sister, Mary Gremore of Williamsport; grandchildren, J.C. VanVactor, Eric VanVactor, and Clifford Crocker; great-grandchildren, Rhett VanVactor, Audrey VanVactor, Jackson Crocker, Jude Crocker, Spenser Crocker, and Sigrun Crocker
Thelma was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmo Parker, Forest Parker, and Orville Parker; a granddaughter, Monica Coffing, and a grandson, James Crocker.
Services were held at First Church of Christ in Covington Feb. 11 with Pastor Randy Walters officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington.
