Waynetown – Debra Sue Reagan Buckles, age 59 of Waynetown died in Clarian North Medical Center, Carmel, at 3:35 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 following a three year illness.

She was born in Frankfort on June 17, 1951 the daughter of the late Richard R. and Ruth M. Brumbarger Reagan.
Debra graduated from Wainwright High School in 1969. She was married to Paul Hanthorn and he preceded her in death in 1985. On November 21, 1997 she was married Samuel William Buckles in Crawfordsville, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, they have lived near Waynetown since 1998.
Deb had been employed as a managerial assistant for many years. Most recently Deb along with her husband operated the Spartan Inn restaurant in Wingate, until failing health forced her retirement . In the short time they operated Spartan Inn, it became the hub of the Wingate community.
She was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Crawfordsville, where she was active in CRHP. She also was involved with Crawfordsville Moose Lodge, Lafayette and Crawfordsville Eagles Club, Crawfordsville Elks Club, American Legion Auxiliary and the Lafayette Navy Club.
Deb loved time with her grandchildren and watching them involved with their sports activities. She was known by all as generous, giving, outgoing and never met a stranger. She also enjoyed dancing and cooking.
Survivors along with her husband are: a son, Brett (Anna) Hanthorn of Indianapolis. Two daughters, Angie (Ed) Johnson of Dayton and Tammy (Jon) Speaker of West Lafayette. Stepchildren, Julie Landes and Samuel W. Buckles II both of Lafayette. Two brothers: Larry (Janet) Reagan of Florida and Dwight Reagan of Waynetown. Two sisters: Jane Terry of Lafayette and Betty Knox of Wingate. Grandchildren: Evan, Reagan, Cassidy, Benton and Luke. Step-grandchildren: JD and Jenna also survive.
The family will greet guests, Monday July 26 from 4 - 8 p.m. with a Rosary service at 3:45 p.m. at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Crawfordsville, Tuesday, July 27 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Faker officiating along with concelebrants: Msg. John Duncan as Homolist, Rev. David Buckles, Rev. William Vath and Rev. Joseph Bruetsch. Visitation an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lafayette.
The family prefers in lieu of floral contributions memorials may best be directed to Scleroderma Foundation or Pulmonary Hypertension Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
