Alfred Rippa, 97, of Wauseon passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the Fulton County Health Center. Alfred was born in Vineland, N.J., on Feb. 25, 1917, the son of Charles and Vernia Rippa. On June 11, 1942, he married Lorna Badenhop, and she survives.

Alfred had been an executive chef for many years, having retired from Hillsdale Country Club. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wauseon. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater, where he was awarded two bronze stars.

Also surviving is a daughter, Jacqueline (Dan) Cahill of Palm Springs, Calif., and a sister, Margaret Rippa of Palm Desert, Calif.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Julie Parsell officiating. Interment will be in Wauseon Union Cemetery.

Visitation for Alfred will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
