Thelen, Norbert

Norbert W. Thelen, 85, of Caroline and West Bend went to his heavenly home on Sat. Sept. 13, 2014 at his home in Caroline. He was born at home in Ashford on July 28, 1929 the son of Michael and Flora (nee Bodden) Thelen. On April 27, 1957, Norbert married Joyce A. Butschlick at St. Matthew's Church, Campbellsport. Norbert worked at the Gehl Company in West Bend for 47 years before retiring. He also was a safety consultant for Tom's Quality Millwork in Ashford. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Leopolis, Holy Angels Church in West Bend and the Knights of Columbus in West Bend. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and making wood. Norbert loved baseball and sharing time with his family at his cottage Up North.

Those left behind to cherish Norbert's memory include his wife Joyce, his sons Thomas (Mary) of Eau Claire and Michael of Lomira, his daughter Judy Rosene of West Bend, his grandchildren Drew, Jaimee, Jon, David and Leah Rosene, his son-in-law Tim Rosene of West Bend, his brother Tony (Helen) Thelen of Campbellsport, his sister Adela Baumhardt of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Norbert was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Agnes (John) Burns, his brother Joseph (Mary Lou) Thelen and his brothers-in-law Ivan Baumhardt and Ed Weiland. He will be missed by all whose life he touched.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wed. Sept 17th at 11:00 AM at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Ashford (N1271 Minnie Lane, Campbellsport). Rev. John Radetski will officiate and burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery, Ashford.

Visitation will be Tues. Sept. 16th from 4 to 7 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St. Campbellsport and on Wed. Sept. 17th from 10 AM until time of mass at the church.

We are sorry for you loss...We still remember the first time we walked into the house we bought from you and Norbie, you offered us a beer and we sat down and talked for awhile...you to welcomed us into your home and we have always felt that we gained a friendship that day not just a house...thnks and God Bless you and your family...

Our Thoughts are with you all. Words could not express how sorry we were to have learnt of Norbert's passing. However I feel lucky to have had him in our lives and glad to have had the chance to spend some time with him this summer. We are sorry we can't be with you all at this time.

Just a note to say how sorry we are to hear about Norbie passing away -- Both Bob and I are unable to attend the wake today but wanted to express our deepest sympathies. We had one of the best times ever years ago at your cottage with you guys and Merlin and Lucille Geidel. Bob also worked many years with Norm at Gehls, Again our deepest regrets
