Donald Wilcox Obituary

Wilcox, Donald G.

Donald G. Wilcox, 64, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, November 29, 2012, at home with his family. The son of the late Chester and Mabel (Hoffman) Wilcox, he was born on June 12, 1948, in Fond du Lac, the third of nine children. Don was a 1966 graduate of L.P. Goodrich School. On June 4, 1967, he married Wendy Wright at the First United Presbyterian Church in Fond du Lac. Don was the machine shop supervisor at the Damrow Company for 27 years until they closed. He worked as a machinist at Meritor in Oshkosh for several years. Later he attended MPTC, graduating with an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design. When Festival Foods opened, he began working in the maintenance department, a perfect fit for him because of his love for problem solving, an ability to fix things and working with people. In the fall of 2010, he was saddened to leave his job do to his battle with cancer. He loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed woodworking and oil painting. He was always planning a project and took pride in his accomplishments. He enjoyed traveling, especially along the Mississippi River and eating out. He loved to take time to relax spending time at the park reading. All the kids that met Donald remember him as Donald Duck because of his very accurate portrayal of the cartoon character. During last Christmas season, he played Santa Claus and thoroughly enjoyed it. He enjoyed watching all sporting events, especially the ones that his grandchildren participated in.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Jennifer L. Zander and her husband, Scott, of North Fond du Lac, one son Donald J. "D.J." of Fond du Lac, and his grandsons, Zachary and Alex Zander of North Fond du Lac. He is also survived by three brothers, Robert Wilcox, Chester (Darlene) Wilcox, Jr. and Jeffrey (Amy) Wilcox, all from Fond du Lac, three sisters, Patricia Zeman of Campbellsport, Sally Holz and Mary Wilcox, both of Fond du Lac. Other survivors include his brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Wright and Thomas Behring, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Allen Wilcox, a sister, Susan Behring, a sister-in-law, Jeanne Wilcox, and a brother-in-law, Daniel Zeman.

Visitation for Donald G. Wilcox will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Tuesday, December 4, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1225 4th Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. The Rev. Jack Harrison will officiate and burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery. Memorials in Donald's name may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church. Additional information and guest book may be found at www.ueckerwitt.com
