Wohler, Eldon H.
Eldon H. Wohler, 89, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, at home.
He was born on August 3, 1923, in Eldorado, a son of Otto and Rose Frederick Wohler.
Eldon served with the United States Army and spent five years in the National Guard, retiring as a sergeant.
On September 20, 1950, he married Marian J. Mitchell at Church of Peace, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Karl Koehler officiating.
Eldon was employed with Midland Co-op for 39 years, retiring in 1985, as the bulk petroleum manager. He had the distinction at the time of being one of the few route salesmen covering four Midwest states and to sell over one million gallons of fuel in one year. After retiring, he worked part-time as a carrier for the Fond du Lac Reporter for seven and a half years and then worked for Blakely United Auto Parts, delivering auto parts to Beaver Dam, Waupun, and the surrounding area.
He was an avid fan of the local "Big Bands" and among his favorites were Howie Schneider and Carl Laack. He had many of their tapes that he enjoyed listening to at home when he couldn't make it to a live concert.
Being a great husband, dad, and grandfather, he loved his family and spent as much time as possible with them, helping them out whenever he could and enjoying their company. He also enjoyed teasing his faithful pet cockers: Sandy, Chelsea, and Lacy, all deceased.
Eldon was a member of Church of Peace.
He is survived by his wife, Marian; two sons, John Otto Wohler and James Mitchell (Debbie) Wohler, both of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Brian, Kyle, Hannah, and Dakota Wohler, all of Fond du Lac; a great-granddaughter, Payton; a brother, Elmer (Mildred) Wohler of Eldorado; a brother-in-law, Bill (Alice) Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Bette Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Eldon Wohler.
Private services will be held at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory with burial at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the David Eldon Wohler Scholarship Fund with the Fond du Lac Area Foundation.

The Pacific Northwest branch of the Wohler family sends it condolences to Eldon's family. My 94-year-old dad (Benjamin Otto) and Eldon came from two of the four brothers -- Otto, Ben, Jack and Henry. I got to visit the Wohler (John/June) farm in 1961 and spent time with Eldon/Marian. My memory 52 years later is what wonderful, kind and gracious people they were. RIP, Eldon.

Eldon always had a beautiful smile on, and a gentle nature. I can always picture my dad and Eldon talking by the gas pump while I was swinging in our tire swing watching the two of them in friendly conversation. He is up in heaven now with Grandma Rose.

My condolences. He was a wonderful person. He delivered gasoline to my fathers farm when I was growing up. He was my great aunts grandson.

Eldon was a wonderful man. I remember as a little girl him coming and talking to me while he filled our gas tanks. He will be missed dearly!
