Pauly, Gregory Emil
Gregory Emil Pauly, 86, of New Holstein, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side, on October 7, 2012.
Greg was born in Manitowoc on February 23, 1926, to Emil and Eulalia (Becker) Pauly. He attended St. Mary High School in Menasha, graduating in 1944. Immediately after graduation he joined the Navy, serving in the Middle East on a supply transport ship through the end of the war. In 1946, Greg enrolled at Marquette University, earning a B.S. degree in Business Administration in 1950. While at Marquette, Greg was forever blessed to meet and fall in love with Dolores "Sis" Langenfeld, of New Holstein. They married in 1948, at Holy Rosary Church in New Holstein, where they settled after graduation.
Greg led an active and fulfilling business career, participating in several different businesses throughout his life, acting as manager of Flexiclogs footwear with A. L. Langenfeld, Inc. of New Holstein; President of Todajeem, Inc. of New Holstein, a real estate sub-divider and homebuilder; Director of Associated Fur Farms, Inc. of New Holstein, a mink producer; Director of Silver Moon Foods, Inc. of New Holstein, a manufacturer of mink food; Chairman of the Board of Quality Aluminum Casting, Company, Inc., of Waukesha, an industrial aluminum casting producer; Chairman of the Board of Van Der Vaart Building Supply, Inc. of Sheboygan, a manufacturer of concrete ready-mix, pipe and block; Director of Insurance Headquarters, Inc. of Sheboygan; Director of Oakbrook Consolidated, Inc. of Oakbrook, IL, a vending food service company; and President and Chairman of the Board of M&I Bank New Holstein.
He believed very strongly in volunteering his time and providing financial support to the local community, and felt blessed when good fortune offered an opportunity to do that. Greg was a founding member of the New Holstein Kiwanis Club, as well as a long-time member of the New Holstein Association of Commerce. He served in several positions on the Girl Scouts of Manitou Council for over twenty years. Greg was a member of the Lakeland College Board of Trustees, and was also on the Executive Committee of the Presidents Council at Marquette University. Greg had a passion for politics and was actively engaged in the Republican Party on the county and state level. He held several posts over the years in the Calumet County Republican Party, including chairman from 1968-1972. The highlight of his political activity occurred in 1980 when he was selected as a Reagan delegate to the Republican National Convention in Detroit.Greg loved to snow ski, taking up the sport in the 1950's and continuing it until he was eighty. Beginning in the late 1960's he and Sis spent several weeks each year in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, which became a second home to them.
Greg is survived by his son, Jeff and wife, Cathie of Middleton, and their children Justin and Lindsay Pauly (Dan Ohrtman); one daughter, Susan Schmitz and husband, Gary of New Holstein, and their children, Olivia (Matt) Simons, Grayson and Michael Schmitz; son, Michael of Middleton, and his son, Gregory Pauly; son, Robert and wife, Zi of Houston, TX, and their children, Fay and Jason Pauly; one great-grandson, Gray Simons; sister, Rosemarie of Baltimore, MD; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Tom Knab of Egg Harbor; sister-in-law LuAnn Langenfeld of New Holstein; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Your dad will always be remembered for his intelligence, integrity and warmth. He was a wonderful mentor to my Dad, Bob Marsho for all the years that they worked together at Van derVaart. I am comforted knowing that they're together again. Warmest regards,
