Mary Smith Obituary

Smith, Mary E.

Mary E. Smith, 83, of Fond du Lac passed away on November 8, 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born July 2, 1929 in Fond du Lac the first twin daughter of Nelson and Marie Hess Fairbank.

Mary was a 1947 graduate of Fond du Lac High School as was the valedictorian of her class. On May 28, 1949 she married Robert J. Smith in a double a ceremony with her twin sister Joan and Don Rucks at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.

Mary enjoyed knitting, playing piano, singing, baking and spending time with family.

Survivors include her children Jeanne (John) McDowell of Fond du Lac, Chuck (Mary) Smith of Dunnville, Maggie (Jim) Behrens of Mequon, Mike Smith and his children Morgan & Dylan of Fond du Lac, Pete Smith and his daughter Cholena of Fond du Lac, Bill Smith of Simi Valley, CA; her sister Joan Rucks of Wisconsin Rapids; one daughter in law Janelle Anderson of Fond du Lac; also by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her two sons Thomas and John, and her stepfather John "Irv" Possley.

Visitation: Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday November 10, 2012 at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., from 10:00 to 11:00 am.

Services: Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at Zacherl Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be directed to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
