Betty Jane Mielke, 82, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, at home.

She was born on August 31, 1930, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Raymond and Bernett May Rohde. Betty Jane graduated from Goodrich Senior High School in 1948.

On September 17, 1949, she married Niles M. Mielke at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John H. Becker officiating.

Betty was a member of Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church.

Betty was an indomitable spirit. Despite her handicap as a result of polio, she never gave into self-pity. She found unconventional ways for accomplishing everyday tasks making the most of her abilities. She is now with her loving husband, Niles.

She is survived by two children, Susan (Phil) Midland of Earlysville, Virginia; and Rick (Carol) Mielke of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Brett Mielke, Daniel Mielke, Julia Midland, and Douglas Midland; a sister-in-law, Rita Rohde; and two brothers-in-law, Gerald (Rita) Mielke, and Florian Zimdars. She is further survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Niles; a brother, William Rohde; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Zimdars.

The funeral service and entombment will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, in Ledgeview Memorial Park, N6250 County Trunk K, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Shari Routh officiating .

The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, and on Saturday at the mausoleum from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
