Propson, Elnora M.

Elnora M. Propson, age 93, of Chilton, died on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. She was born August 22, 1919 in Hilbert, daughter of the late Matthew & Anna (Portman) Schumacher.

She married Erwin M. Propson on July 12, 1938 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert. Following her marriage, she and Erwin farmed together in the Town of Stockbridge until she retired at the age of 65. Erwin preceded her in death on December 13, 2001. Elnora was a woman of deep faith and belonged to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, formerly St. Elizabeth Parish.

She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and had a love of animals; especially her dogs. Elnora was a fantastic cook who could create a wonderful meal out of nothing. At every gathering, she would make sure that everyone present was well fed. Elnora's love of her family was paramount in her life. Whether she was keeping her boys in line, or babysitting her grandchildren, she cherished every moment of life with those she loved.

Survivors include her children: Alvin Propson of Rantoul, LaVerne (George) Buechel of Malone, Lorraine (Dan) Kurtz of Spring Grove, IL, Melvin Propson of Brothertown, Marvin (Liz) Propson of Brothertown, Arleen (Terry) Fluhr of Chilton, Rita (Roger) Stahmann of Van Dyne; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Elnora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Erwin; a daughter-in-law: Eveline Propson; a brother: Gilbert Schumacher; and 3 sisters: Marie Casper, Veronica Wolf, and Matilda Schumacher.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Bob Kollath officiating. Burial will be in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Kloten. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, February 4, 2013 and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 am until 11:15 am. A Parish Vigil Service will take place Monday evening at the funeral home beginning at 7:00 pm.

The family of Elnora would like to thank the entire staff of the Chilton Care Center for all of the loving care that was provided to their mom.
