Wuest, James A.

James A. Wuest, 65, of Fond du Lac, died Monday, June 17, 2013. He was born December 16, 1947, in Fond du Lac, the son of Edward L. and Joyce Gransee Wuest. Jim was a 1966 graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army. Serving in Vietnam, he was awarded the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. Because of wounds received in action, Jim was disabled. He was a member of Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 and the Disabled American Veterans. Jim was a member of the American Bowling Congress and had rolled three 300 games. He loved fishing, golfing with his best friend, Ed Wolf, going to the stockcar, sprint, and dirt track racing. During his childhood, he began racing go karts at the Isaac Walton League. He enjoyed his vacation home in Eagle River, and driving his Z-28 Camaro. On July 22, 1978, he married Nancy R. Scherer in Fond du Lac, at the Church of Peace. He volunteered at Grace Reformed Church, where he was a member helping with the Giving Tree and Vacation Bible School.

Surviving is his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Cheryl (Louis) Handy of Clintonville, WI; and Janice (Tony) Fiocchi of Hayward, WI; two sons, Raymond (Special Friend, Susie Hughes) Foote and Jesse (Sarah) Wuest, both of Fond du Lac, and 13 grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Linda (Mike) Milinski, and a brother, Bob (Sandy) Wuest, both of Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law, Karen Scherer of Fond du Lac; and Linda (Bob) Parris of Gowen, MI; nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. His parents, a granddaughter, Beth-Aven Handy, and a sister, Sandra Lee Wuest, preceded him in death.

Visitation for James A. Wuest will be on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon at Grace Reformed Church, 163 18th Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at noon at the church on Wednesday. Rev. Barry Vegter will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by military honors conducted by Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 Firing Squad.
