Bernice V. Meis, 79, of Fond du Lac, formerly of Lomira, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

She was born on December 20, 1933, in the town of Wayne, the daughter of the late Arnold and Louise (Hoeft) Otto, and on August 10, 1956, she was united in marriage to Norman Meis in Iowa. Norman preceded Bernice in death on July 16, 1993.

Bernice was a graduate of Lomira High School and was employed by Mayville Metal Products for nearly 30 years. During her retirement years she enjoyed traveling, helping with the Meals on Wheels program, and helping with Red Cross blood drives. Bernice was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira.

Bernice had a great love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew her.

Those Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory include three sons, Randy (Chris) Meis of Watertown, Gary (Jenni) Meis of Le Roy and Jeffrey Meis of Orlando, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Marie Woehrer and Dorothy (John) Abler both of Fond du Lac; a brother-in-law Henry (Renate) Meis of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren, Brian (Heidi) Meis, Daniel (Callie) Meis, Stacey (Giles) Isham, Lisa (Matthew) Christensen, Nikki Meis, Nick (Sarah) Thern and Nicole (Tony) Seth, 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bernice was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter.

Funeral services for Bernice will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June, 20, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lomira. Rev. Dan Schmidt will officiate and entombment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Fond du Lac.

The Meis family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church Anniversary Fund are appreciated.
