Helen Rose Betz, 96, of Fond du Lac passed away peacefully at Woodlands Senior Park on Friday, April 27, 2012.

Helen was born in the Town on Eden on February 16, 1916, a daughter of Daniel and Edna (Ryan) McCarty. She was a 1934 graduate of Fond du Lac Senior High School.
On November 28, 1934 she married Walter Betz Sr. at St. Mary's Church in Eden.
She owned and operated her own business, Helen Betz Studio. In 1967 she and her son Daniel formed Betz Interiors. In 1986 the third generation Patrick Betz became a partner. Helen retired after 50 years of sewing draperies and selling furniture. Helen also taught drapery classes at Moraine Park Technical College.
Helen enjoyed sewing, entertaining people by playing the piano and organ by ear. She was an avid bowler until age 89. She also enjoyed traveling abroad and loved eating chocolate.
Helen was very proud of her Irish heritage.
Helen is survived by three children, Walter Jr. (Mary Ann) of Lomira, Alice Scannell of Tempe, Arizona, and Daniel (Norma) of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister Gladys "Mick" Toshner; three sisters-in-law, Marion Betz, Eunice Huck and Agnes Johnson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Geraldine Gauthier, brothers-in-law Irving Gauthier, Raymond Betz, Lloyd Huck and Tom Johnson.
VISITATION: Family will receive relatives and friends at the Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division St., Fond du Lac on Monday, April 30, 2012, from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m.
SERVICES: A Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Zacherl Funeral Home on Monday, April 30.
