Jack M. Kelly Obituary
Jack M. Kelly, 81, of Fond du Lac, ended his long battle with Alzheimer's disease on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. He left for his heavenly home, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1930, in Clintonville, Wis., the son of Hugh and Lucy (Gramlow) Kelly.

Jack was a 1948 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for two years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps.

On March 27, 1971, Jack married Sandra L. Knorr in Batavia, Wis.

He worked as an Insurance Agent for Prudential for 30 years, retiring in 1992. After retirement, Jack enjoyed working part-time at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.

One of Jack's passions was football. Jack played football in high school, college, and for the Marine Corps. He started the football program at St. Lawrence Seminary in 1969, and was an assistant coach at St. Mary's Springs for two years prior to that. Coaching at the Seminary was one of the highlights of Jack's life. He enjoyed refereeing high school basketball and football games for 28 years with South Shore Officials Association. He also enjoyed cross-country skiing and biking.

Community Service was very important to Jack and he loved being involved in the growth and development of Fond du Lac. He was a founding member of the Fond du Lac Booster Club, he served 18 years on the Fond du Lac School Board, multiple terms on the Fond du Lac City Council, he served as Jury Commissioner and Bailiff for Fond du Lac County, and was a member of Faith Ev. Lutheran Church.

Jack was a strong and courageous man with a very kind heart. His Irish humor often lifted the spirits of others. He was a devoted husband, father, and faithful friend to many.

He is survived by his wife Sandy of Fond du Lac; three daughters, Kristin (Gerald) Schmidt of Cedarburg, Sara Kelly (Liam Christofferson) and their daughter Grace, of Fond du Lac, and Carrie Kelly (Jason Williams) of Milwaukee; his sister, Ruth (David) Mann of Crystal Lake, Wis.; one son, Jack (Michelle) Kelly of Lake in the Hills, Ill. and their two children Sean and Laura; sister in law, Mary Kelly of Neenah; brothers-in-law, Richard (Joan) Knorr of Random Lake, Thomas (Barb) Knorr of Kewaskum, John (Sheri) Knorr of Medina, Ohio, Bud Schneider of Beechwood; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
