Sturm, Joy

Joy Lou Sturm, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Merrill on July 3, 2013, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 1, 1941 to Lynn and Ida (Schwark) Wollitz in Fon du Lac. Joy was married to Leonard Toetz and they later divorced. On August 18, 1984, she was married to Kenneth Sturm in Merrill. She waitressed, worked in a canning factory, and drove semi. Joy was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in the town of Maine. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and gardening. Joy is preceded in death by both parents, and her mother and father-in-law, Marcus and Lillie Sturm. She is survived by her husband, Ken, two sons, Patrick Toetz and Michael (Bettina) Toetz, two daughters, Laurie (Rick) Porter and Michelle Toetz, two stepdaughters, Sherry (Glen) Schuelke and Kerry (Mike) Bartoll, eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and great granddaughter, Kylee. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Faith Lutheran Church, town of Maine, with visitation from 12:00pm until the time of service at 2:00pm. Reverend Kevin Hoogland will officiate. A private family burial at Maple Grove Cemetery will take place on a later date. The family would like to thank the staffs at Marshfield Clinic-Weston, , St. Clare's Hospital and Pinecrest Nursing Home for their exceptional care. A very special thank you to the Aspirus Hospice Nurses for the wonderful home care they provided to Joy. In lieu of flowers, Joy's family request that donations be made to in Marshfield or to the Faith Lutheran Church in the town of Maine. Mid-Wisconsin Cremation Society is assisting the family.
