Vincent L. Longo Jr.

Vincent Louis Longo, Jr., age 88, of St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac, WI, passed away on September 9, 2012, with his wife and family at his bedside. He was born in Racine, WI, on March 9, 1924, to Vincent and Hertha (Wilde) Longo.

His last grade of education was 2 years of college at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. He attended St. Joseph's Elementary School in Fond du Lac, WI, and attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Mount Calvary for high school.

He married Mary (Emanuele) on June 7, 1947, at St. Francis of Assissi Church in Milwaukee, WI.

He was in the 106th infantry in the army during WWII serving as a squad leader and staff sergeant in Germany and the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.

He belonged to Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac, WI.

He was employed with the Public Shoe Corporation and operated The Village Cobbler Shop in Fond du Lac, WI.

Vince is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Sister Hertha Longo CSA of Fond du Lac, Vincent (Mary) Reinhardt of Mayville, Joe (Nanette) Longo of Fond du Lac, Terance Longo of Westminster CO., Mark Longo of Fond du Lac, Maria (Bob) McDermot of Fond du Lac and children Brenna and Andrew McDermot, Catherine (Timothy) Abler of Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Sal (Tara) Longo and their child Bryson, Vincent (Meghan) Longo, Tina (Steve) Morgan, Laura (Jay) Rommelfanger and children Kennedy and Sophie, Vicki (Tony) Strobel and children Charlie and Luke, Tanya Longo, Noah Longo, Joseph (Emilee) Longo and children Jasmyne, Justin, Jayden and Jorryn; other relatives and friends; special family pets.

Preceding him in death are his parents, one son Jude Longo and grandchild Tanya Longo.

Visitation: Vince's family will receive relatives and friends at the St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street, Fond du Lac, on Thursday, September 13, 2012 from 1:00 until 2:45 PM.

Services: At 3:00 PM at the St. Francis Home Chapel a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. His friend, Fr. Edward Sippel will preside. Cremation will follow these services with burial of remains at Calvary Cemetery.

The family is extremely grateful for the care, love, and support that St. Francis Home staff gave to Vincent during the last year of his life.

The family prefers that memorials be given to the St. Francis Home Foundation.

Zacherl Funeral Home and Crematory of Fond du Lac is serving the family. .
