Walter H. Goldapske, 87, died peacefully on Monday August 5, 2013 at the Agave Group home in Peoria, AZ. He was born in Fond du Lac, the son of Paul and Minnie Heber Goldapske. He was a veteran of the U.S Navy serving in the Pacific during World War II. On July 2, 1945, he married Gloria J Luby who preceded him to heaven on April 9, 2007, after 61 memorable years of marriage. Walter's work as a lithographic engineer moved him and his family from Wisconsin to North Carolina and eventually Illinois, until retirement to Sun City, AZ in 1990.

He enjoyed many sports and was a participant in hunting, fishing and bowling; Walter was even awarded a gold medal at a Senior Olympics lawn bowling competition held in Sun City, AZ. Walter and Gloria loved traveling throughout North America visiting family and friends. They always found time to attend grandchildren special activities. Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed sharing his life with so many people. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his son, Richard Goldapske, Illinois; his daughter, Peggy (Steve) Cohen, Oregon; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five Goldapske brothers and wives, Leonard (Marge), North Fond du Lac, Henry (Pat), North Fond du Lac, Elmer (Billie), North Fond du Lac, Paul (Karen), Van Dyne, Fred, Fond du Lac, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded to the next life by his parents, his soul mate, Gloria, one son, Jeffery, four brothers and five sisters-in-law, John (Lucille), Robert (Emma), Charles (Joyce), Arthur (Virginia), Carol; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Minnie (Gerald) Altman, Anne (Mike Nolan) Langnecker, Olga (Alfred) Toetz.

Visitation will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at The Church of Our Saviour, 363 S Main Street. The memorial service officiated by Pastor Mathew Agee, will immediately follow at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary.

Inurnment, at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park will follow after the visitation and luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Legion, Trier-Puddy Post Number 75, PO Box 424, FDL 54936-0424, are appreciated.
