William Perry Griffiths, II (known as "Griff" by his friends) of Traverse City, Michigan peacefully returned to his Universal origins on Sunday, March 3, 2013.
Griff was born in Traverse City, Michigan, on September 20, 1937, to Juanita Weese and Bonner Perry Griffiths.
Griff received most of his formal education in Michigan. In the 1960s, he moved to Wisconsin, where he earned an MFA in Art Metal at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Griff was a professor of art for 30 years at the University of Wisconsin Center System of Fond du Lac, WI, where he was beloved by his students.
Throughout his life, Griff was commissioned to create breathtaking jewelry pieces, or miniature sculptures as he and his contemporary artists called them.
Griff had an unending curiosity for life and lived to share this with others. He had no limit to his generosity and regularly encouraged and empowered others to seek their dreams. Known for his (tell it like it is) colorful character and unending love for nature, Griff was most at home on the pristine beaches of Lake Michigan.
Griff is survived by wife, Susan Griffiths (sons, Anthony Faris and Kai Kaden), daughter, Tara Munn (husband, Brad, sons, Drew and Alex), son, William Perry Griffiths, II (wife, Samantha, daughter, Rachel), and beloved companions, Stormie and Nicki.
A private memorial for family and close friends will be held in Michigan.
