Winnie Posthuma, 87, formerly of Beaver Dam passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013, surrounded by her family at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Rd., Beaver Dam with the Rev. David Dykstra officiating. A visitation will also be held on Friday, Sept. 20th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place Friesland Cemetery, Friesland, WI.
Winnie was born the daughter of Peter and Jessie (Levey) DeVries on October 21, 1925 in Friesland, Wisconsin. She was married to Eli Posthuma in 1944 in Randolph, WI.
Winnie was a member of Faith Community Church in Beaver Dam. She and her husband Eli farmed together for many years. Winnie was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. She liked cooking and reading. She enjoyed visiting with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Winnie is survived by her children: Elton (Sharon) Posthuma of Waupun; Jerry (Brenda) Posthuma of Beaver Dam; Gladys Posthuma of Fond du Lac; Jeff Posthuma of North Fond du Lac; Bobby (Janet) Posthuma of Burnett; Duke Posthuma of Beaver Dam; and Kevin (Nancy) Posthuma of Beaver Dam; two sisters: Jennie (Gerald) Alsum of Brandon; and Gertrude Hopp of Oshkosh; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eli in 1980, two daughters, Diane and Elaine Wanda, her brother, John DeVries and her sister, Margaret VanLeeuwen.
Memorials may be directed to Faith Community Church or to the Gideon's International.
