Dewitz, Shirley Ann

Shirley Ann Dewitz, 82, of Fond du Lac, passed away at Manor Care Health Services on Monday, February 10, 2014. Shirley was born in Fond du Lac on April 19, 1931, a daughter of Fred and Anna (Ehlenbeck) Dankert.

On June 30, 1956 Shirley married Jack Kumbier in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death. On January 4, 1980 Shirley married Marvin Dewitz in Fond du Lac, who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dewitz was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Gordon Thibadeau for eight years. She later was employed by the Congregation of St. Mary as parish secretary for 18 years, prior to retiring in 1996. She participated in the St. Mary's Altar Society, the Bereavement Committee and the Church's Hope Choir. She was a member of Holy Family Parish.

Shirley was a long time member of the Arcade Bowling League and was also an avid camper.

She is survived by three sons, John (Linda) Kumbier of Germantown, Jeffrey Kumbier and James Kumbier all of Fond du Lac; one daughter, Julie (T.J.) McCuin of Gilbert AZ; grandchildren, Lauren, Katie, Ryan and Brianna Kumbier, Jenna and Jeremy McCuin of Gilbert AZ; one step son, Timothy (Debbie) Dewitz of Newman Lake WA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Shirley in death are her parents, husbands, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac, from 9:30 until 11:15 AM.

Service: At 11:30 AM on Thursday, February 13, A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will be in the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.

Memorials in her name may be directed to Holy Family Parish.
