Oscar G. Konen
Oscar G. Konen, 74, of W4974 Banner Road, Chilton, died Monday afternoon, May 5, 2014 at his home with his family at his side.
He was born May 25, 1939 in Stockbridge, son of the late Clemens & Cordulia (Guelig) Konen.
Oscar attended Kiel Schools.
On November 25, 1959 he married Catherine S. Casper. She preceded him in death on February 25, 1973. On August 30, 1975 he married Catherine A. Schneider.
Oscar had worked for the Kiel Woodenware, Tecumseh Products, New Holstein, Kohler Company and operated a bar at Columbia Park . For many years he owned and operated OK Bar & OK Garage in Calumetville. He most recently had been employed at Maas Construction until his illness caused him to retire.
Oscar was a longtime member of the Eagles Club. He was very involved in racing for many years and was a member of the Sheboygan County Race Association. He was a member of R.S. Vintage Steel, Fishermans Road Fishing Club, Brothertown Fishing Club and a former member of the Calumet Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy, his children: Ken (Chris) Konen, Chilton, Linda (Al) Maas, Malone and four grandchildren; Jacob & Samantha Konen, Ryan & Kayla Maas. He is further survived by one brother, Clemens "Doc" (Lorraine) Konen, Kiel, his mother-in-law, Josephine Schneider, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Roy Schneider, Roger (Judi) Schneider, Larry (Tammy) Schneider, Ron (Sandie) Schneider, Laurie (Joe) Merchant, Tom (Karen) Schneider, Barb (Dennis) Forstner, Bev (Bill) Biederwolf, Honey Meinert, his K-9 companion, Terra, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Cathy, infant son, Paul Konen, brothers, Jerome (Lorraine), James (Mary), David (Bessie)(Ana) Konen, sister, Rosemary Jung, father-in-law, Lester B. Schneider and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services for Oscar will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, May 9, 2014 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St. Kiel with Rev. Gary Miller officiating.
Burial will take place in Holy Trinity/Good Shepherd Cemetery, Jericho.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 pm until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name for NE Wisconsin Old Glory Honor Flight.
Oscar's family would like to extend their thanks to longtime friend, Gerry Bartel for all his help, Rev. Gary Miller for his care and compassion, and to his caregivers, Bonnie & Kathy. They would also like to thank the nurses at Calumet County Hospice especially Karen Doerr along with the family, friends and neighbors who have helped in so many ways.
