Joyce A. Blare, age 76, of Fond du Lac, peacefully entered God's home at her residence on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. She was born on February 1, 1938 in Cook County, Illinois, a daughter to Jim and Mary (Kasuboski) Blare. Joyce graduated from St. Mary's Springs in 1956. She was formerly married to Richard Cardinal on August 24, 1957 at Presentation Catholic Church in North Fond du Lac.

From 1970-1974, Joyce worked as a CNA at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, becoming an LPN in 1974 and continuing at St. Agnes until 1980. In April of 1980, she and her former husband started Cardinal Construction Company, Inc. where she was Secretary/Treasurer until 1986. Joyce returned to nursing in 1990, where she dedicated her life to caring for the elderly and Alzheimer's patients at nursing homes and Lakeview Assisted Living until her retirement in August of 2004. She enjoyed volunteering in the schools when her kids were young, crossword puzzles, reading, movies and especially taking care of the elderly. In her later years she was very active in volunteering at St. Paul's Cathedral.

Our mom truly gave of herself caring for others.

Surviving Joyce are her four children; Mark (Carol) Cardinal, Deb (Neil) Olsen, Kurt Cardinal, and Todd (girlfriend Jenni Haak) Cardinal, eight grandchildren; Christopher, Caitlyn, Cody, Michael, Kristopher, Britney, Matti and Mitchell.
