Helen Daane, 100, of Waupun passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Christian Home.

Helen was born on May 11, 1914, in the town of Alto, Fond du Lac County, a daughter of Edward and Jessie (Straks) Lemmenes. On May 25, 1938, she was united in marriage to Erwin Daane in Brandon. After completing normal school courses in Fond du Lac and Oshkosh, Helen taught for several years in a one room school house outside of Alto. After adopting her children, she provided leadership for the 4-H club in Fairwater for many years while her children were active in 4-H. She was formerly employed with Joan Photo Service in Brandon from 1961-1968 and then worked as an aide at the Christian Home in Waupun, until 1984 when she retired. Helen was brought up in the Alto Reformed Church and became a member of the Bethel Reformed Church of Brandon from marriage until 1967. Erwin and Helen then moved to Waupun, where they joined Emmanuel Reformed. She taught Sunday school programs of these churches until she was 80 years old. Plus Helen was a very active member of the women's missions and service organizations of these churches as well as local and regional leadership offices. She enjoyed singing in the church choirs, and in two ladies choruses under the direction of Mrs. Leonard Giebink. She was an avid reader and enjoyed making her own clothes. She enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Helen is survived by a son, John Daane of Monroe; a daughter, Ruth (Rodney) Day of Waupun; three grandsons, Kevin (Rebecca) Day of Waupun and their children, Jennifer and Bryce; Steve (Janel) Day of Sun Prairie and their children, Morgan and Cameron; Brad (Katie) Day of Poynette and their, children Trevor and Derek; one sister-in-law, Helen Lemmenes of Florida; two brothers-in-law, John Bille of Waupun; and Merlin "Mike" Vande Zande of Waupun.
