Dolores "Dee" B. (Schaub) Knecht, 83, formerly of 401 Southview Drive, North Fond du Lac, and most recently a resident of Woodlands Senior Park, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013.
She was born on April 5, 1929, to the late Benedict and Barbara Heimerl Schaub, the youngest of five children. Dolores grew up on the east side of Fond du Lac and attended St. Mary's School and Church.
On April 20, 1948, she married Elmer R. Knecht, founder of Knecht Realty Inc.
Her working life included a job as a switchboard operator for Wisconsin Bell Telephone in Fond du Lac and Milwaukee, and later became the owner of her own business, Dee's Wig Boutique, which she operated for 35 years.
Dolores was raised with the value of keeping family together, which she carried on through her abiding dedication to her family. Her children remember her as a strong, independent woman who was a loving, supportive, and caring mother. She had an easy laugh, a sense of fun and adventure, a creative flair for style, and always made you feel welcome in her home.
Survivors include her children, Barbara (Frank) Alioto of Los Gatos, California; Bonnie Kaub of Leander, Texas; Tony (Sharie) Knecht of Fond du Lac; and Dixie Knecht of Fond du Lac; seven grandchildren, Frank Alioto and Luke Alioto of California; Katrina Kaub of Texas; Kristy Birschbach and Katie McClure of Arizona; Travis Knecht and Matthew Kissinger of Fond du Lac; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 57 years, Elmer R. Knecht; her son, Tommy R. Knecht; her brother, Robert Schaub; and her sisters, Bernadette Thresher and twin sisters, Agnes Grundman and Alice Pfalzgraf.
