Mand, James F.

James F. Mand, 64, of St. Peter, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. James was born on December 6, 1948 in Fond du Lac, a son of Frank and Catherine (Wirtz) Mand.

On August 16, 1969 Jim married Mary Alice Birschbach at St. John the Baptist Church, Johnsburg.

Jim attended St. Peter Catholic Elementary School and St. Mary's Springs High School. After high school Jim joined the United States Army Reserves. In March of 1969 he began employment with Borden's Galloway West, Fond du Lac Division, later named Saputo Cheese. Jim retired when the plant closed in 2009.

Jim was a member of Holy Family Parish and attended St. Peter Catholic Church. He was a member of the East Shore Conservation Club, Fisherman's Road Fishing Club, and Somo Fish & Game Club in Tomahawk, WI.

Jim enjoyed nature in many ways, hunting, fishing, bird watching, gardening, sturgeon spearing and anything to do with the outdoors, sharing all he knew about these passions of his.

Jim is survived by Mary Alice, his wife for 43 years; two children, Brian (Luciene) Mand of Eden, WI and Brenda (Shaun) Mand Weinberger of Fond du Lac; one granddaughter, Samantha Fink of Theresa; one sister, Rita Petrie of Mt. Calvary; one brother, Stephen (Betty) Mand of Fond du Lac; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Jim in death are his parents; two sisters, Sr. Paula Mand CSA and Clara Anhalt; one brother, Paul Mand Sr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation: Jim's family will receive relatives and friends at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter, on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 5:45 PM.

Services: At 6:00 PM on Friday, February 1, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery. Zacherl Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family. www.zacherlfuneralhome.com
