Henken, Richard W.

Richard W. "Dick" Henken, 54, of Gainesville, FL, passed away May 14, 2013.

He was born May 1, 1959, in Port Washington, WI, a son to Dr. Willard and Dolores Ebert Henken. In 1982 he married Bobbi Langkamp.

Dick was a graduate of L.P. Goodrich High School, the PGA Business School, attended Memphis State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education from the University of Florida, Gainesville.

Dick was an assistant Golf Professional at Meadowbrook CC, Tulsa from 1983 to 1987; he then served as the head golf professional at Meadowbrook CC, West Memphis, AR from 1987 to 1991. Starting in 2002, Dick served as an Exceptional Education Teacher at Buchholz High School and Gainesville High School, and from May of 1995 until present he owned and operated RWH Properties, a real estate investment and property management company in Gainesville.

Dick earned many golfing awards including being a member of the Florida State Golf Association Amateur Cup Team Matches, a 1996 and 1997 Champion, Gator Open in Gainesville, 1998 Champion, Florida State Golf Association Public Links Championship, he qualified for the USGA Amateur Public Links Championship in 2000, was a Henry Camp Memorial Golf Tournament Medalist in 1997 and 2003 and qualified for the 26th US Mid-Amateur Championship in 2006.

Survivors include his wife Bobbi, of Gainesville, a daughter, Nicole Marie Henken of Portland, OR, and a son William John Henken of Gainesville, his parents, Willard "Bill" and Dolores Henken of Fond du Lac, a brother Tom (JoAnne) Henken of Fond du Lac, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Beverley Langkamp, formerly of Fond du Lac, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, co-workers, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister Susan M. (Donald) Zibung on July 13, 2009.

Visitation: The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent Street Fond du Lac, from 9:00 to 10:45 AM.

Services: A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the church. Pastor Steve Huff will officiate. Cremation has taken place.

A memorial in his name will be established.
