Duane Harvey Dummer, 73, of Horicon WI, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, June 23, with his family at his side at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral services for Duane Dummer will be held on Thursday, June 27 at 11 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church (Browns Corner), Horicon with the Rev. Richard J. Boeck Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery, Horicon. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Wednesday, June 26, from 4 P.M.-7 P.M. at Koepsell Funeral Home in Mayville and on Thursday at the church from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
Duane was born on August 28, 1939 in Burnett, WI, the son of Harvey H. and Erma (Bellack) Dummer. He was baptized on Sept. 17, 1939 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burnett, WI. He was confirmed March 29, 1953 at Zion Lutheran Church in Burnett, WI. Duane is a 1957 graduate from Horicon High School. On April 11, 1959 he was united in marriage to Carol (Hoke) Dummer at St. John's Lutheran Church Horicon, WI. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Douglas Dummer.
Duane enjoyed being a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Horicon, servicing his Lord as an elder and member of various committees. He worked 34 years at John Deere and retired as a Senior Production Engineer in 1992. After retirement he volunteered at the Bethesda Country Fair and Store for many years. Duane enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and woodworking. He was also an avid collector of Breweriana and enjoyed following the Packers and Brewers. Most important to Duane was being able to spend time with his family and loved ones.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of 54 years; his son, Douglas (Terri) of Oakfield; his grandchildren, Christopher Dummer of Oakfield; Melissa (Cory) Springstroh of Waupun; Brian Dummer of Stevens Point; Erin Dummer of Oakfield; his great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Gavin Springstroh of Waupun; his sister, Connie (Michael) Thull of Kewaskum; his brother, Gary (Sharon) Dummer of Beaver Dam; his sisters-in-law, Lucille Oathout of Horicon; and Jewell Pagel of Iron Ridge; his nieces nephews and his stepsisters, Arlene Ohland of Hartford; Lorraine Hahn of Hartford; Elaine (Claude) Rex of Horicon; Marion (Ronald) Brandt of Cedarburg; Edna (Robert) Schultz of West Bend; Marlis Glamann of Florida; and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or a memorial of your choice.
