Sperger, Romona M. (nee Bauer)

Romona M. Sperger (nee Bauer), 87, of Waupun, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Waupun Memorial Hospital in Waupun.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waupun, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Wild presiding. A visitation will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will take place at St. Andrew's Cemetery in LeRoy.

Romona was born the daughter of Roman and Leona (Czoschke) Bauer on March 7, 1926, in Beaver Dam, WI. Romona was united in marriage to Courtland A. Sperger Sr. on September 7, 1946, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in LeRoy. Together with her husband and her family she farmed in Tn. Alto. She also worked as a receptionist at the East Central Breeders Association in Waupun. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar Society. In her spare time, Romona enjoyed stamp collecting and crocheting.

Romona is survived by her husband of 66 years Courtland; her children, Mona (Bill) Averbeck of Fond du Lac, Bob Sperger of Waupun, Mike Sperger of Waupun, and daughter-in-law, Janet Sperger of Waupun; one brother, Ray (Elaine) Bauer of Fond du Lac; 4 sisters-in-law, Henrietta Gremminger of Kewaskum, Mona (Bernie) Werner of West Bend, Erma Franke of LeRoy, and Ruby (Dick) Stommel of West Bend; grandchilren, Steve (Rochelle) Sperger, Janeen (Tom) Gerlikovski, Ryan (Becca) Sperger, Adam (Tami) Averbeck, Nick (Casey) Averbeck, Courtney Averbeck, Louis (Jenny) Averbeck, and Laura (fiance, Adam Deal) Sperger; 8 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Amber, Mekena, Kylynn, Emma, Sloan, AJ, Brayden, Garen, and Charlize. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Courtland Sperger, Jr.; her twin sister, Leona (Carl) Schraufnagel; brothers-in-laws, Donald (Shirley) Sperger, Donald Franke, and Raymond Gremminger.
