Myron Reid Obituary

Reid, Myron "Red"

A truly golden heart stopped beating early Monday, October 31, 2016. Myron "Red" Wallace S. Reid passed away at Villa Loretto Nursing Home from heart failure. Myron was born on January 27, 1926 to John and Grace Reid in Scotch Grove, Iowa. Having lost his mother at a young age, Myron was raised by a mix of Aunts and Uncles throughout Iowa.

Myron was a Veteran of WWII where he proudly served with the 69th Infantry and was one of the few in his division still alive. He received numerous medals for his service including a bronze star.

He settled for most of his life in Madison where he worked for Kaiser Ford as a mechanic for 30 years. Myron loved to travel with his son Randy and his martial arts students as they fought in matches around the state. He was their driver and time/score keeper. As their driver, he heard all their antics and stories and was kept in stitches as he listened to them. And there was always a stop for a piece of pie!

He treasured time spent with his son Steve and daughter in law Linda who were Myron's primary caregivers. Steve and Linda did so much to ensure his health and wellbeing over the last 15 years (everything from doctor appointments, visits to family in Iowa, emergencies and everything in between) and we are eternally grateful that they lived so close and cared so lovingly for him.

After he retired, he moved to Fond du Lac where he found the love of his life, Marilyn Schultz. Myron truly treasured his time with her. We know that it was Marilyn's love that kept him with us and we are truly grateful for that.

He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his sons, Randy(Sarah) Reid, Steven(Linda) Reid; brothers Bernie Reid and John Reid; special friend, Marilyn Schultz; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place and services and burial will take place next spring in Clay Center, Iowa. Memorials can be directed to the Fond du lac Humane Society.

Our family would like to thank everyone at Villa Loretto Nursing Home and Agnesian Hospice who provided wonderful and loving care for Myron. The nurses at Villa Loretto are absolutely the finest we have seen and made Myron's time there the best that it could be. We are so thankful for all of you!

I had the pleasure of working with Red at kayser ford, he was a genuine pleasure to have had the chance to get to meet. one of the kindest and so knowledgeable person. I as many others need to inspire to be like him. Red was always heping people to have your children join Randy a karate school. My boys both went and it help them both. Red will be truley missed as he always helped people out, had kind words of encouragement. While working at kayser it always made my day to see Red in the morning for a little chat. Red will truly be missed by any one that was lucky enough to have met him.
