Arthur L. Morris, 77
LUNENBURG -- Arthur L. Morris, 77, a longtime Lunenburg resident, died Monday, Dec. 9, in HealthAlliance Leominster Hospital, after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Marlene A. (Dooley) Morris; one step-daughter, Susan M. Swanton (whom he loved as his own), and her husband, Michael, of Shirley, MA; two sons, Raymond Morris, and his wife, Tamiko, of Hawaii and Robert Morris of Vermont; five grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah Gaudet, and Michael, Makennah and Hannah Morris. He was predeceased by a step-son, Michael F. Gaudet, of Lunenburg in 2007, a grandson, Joshua Meigs of Fitchburg in 2011, and his sister, Marion Davis of Sterling in 2012.
Mr. Morris was employed as an Offset Printer at the former Rand-Whitney Printing Co. in Leominster, for 44 years, retiring in 2000.
He was a 1955 graduate of Worcester Trade High School. He enjoyed golf, woodworking and traveling.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed in Korea with the rank of SP4. He was honorably discharged in 1965.
He was born in Sterling, MA, on November 8, 1936, a son of the late Harry L., and Elizabeth L. (Hoyt) Morris.
Arthur's family would like to thank the Physicians, Nurses and Radiologists at the Simond-Sinon Cancer Center at HealthAlliance Burbank Hospital and the Physicians and Nurses at Health Alliance Leominster Hospital for their exceptional care during his illness.
MORRIS -- His Funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, MA. Rev. Mary Ann Barry will be the Celebrant.
Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
Calling hours at the Funeral Home are on Thursday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Simond-Sinon Regional Cancer Center, HealthAlliance Burbank Campus, 275 Nichols Rd., Fitchburg, MA 01420 or may be left at the Funeral Home.
