of Fitchburg; 57

FITCHBURG -- Ellen M. (Cooper) Paradis, of Fitchburg, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, after fighting a courageous three-year battle with cancer.

She was born on December 13, 1956, in Lowell, MA, to Roger L. and Frances (McKinley) Cooper of Pepperell. She spent her early years in Pepperell & Groton and attended the schools there. She attended high school in Lunenburg, MA and later Manchester, NH.

She worked for many years in the kitchen at Applewild School in Fitchburg before retiring in 2012 due to her illness. She was a member and past president of the Pepperell VFW, Ladies Auxiliary, Post #3291.

She enjoyed drives with her husband, many crafts, but was most often seen crocheting or spoiling her grandchildren. She especially loved the holidays and her annual family Christmas party which she planned all year long. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and adoring grandmother. She had an enormous heart and was a friend to all her knew her, including many of her children's childhood friends. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas L. Paradis, with whom she spent nearly 39 years, and their children; son, Lenard M. Cooper & his partner, Catherine Brouillet of Fitchburg; daughter, Angela M. Paradis of Fitchburg; and daughter, Crystal A. Ramos & her husband, Angel A. Ramos of Fitchburg. "Mimi" leaves 10 grandchildren: Felicia M. Rodriguez, Jocelyn P. Leger, Nicklaus T. Rodriguez, Michael T. Cooper, Antonio L. Rodriguez, Thomas A. Ramos, Timothy N. Cooper, Jaelynn M. Ramos, Ellen R. Cooper and Matthew R. Cooper. She also leaves her siblings, Harold E. Cooper of Raeford North Carolina, Anna M. Ouellette of Lowell, Susan E. Alicea of Revere, Sandy Jarvis of Shirley, James B. Cooper of Shirley, Penny S. Touchette of Allentown, NH; friend and stepsister, Carol Rafferty of NH; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews & close friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, and younger brother, Russell L. Cooper.

(Cooper) Paradis, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, Funeral Services 10 AM, Tuesday at the Hamilton-McGaffigan Funeral Home, 37 Main St. (Rte. 113), Pepperell. Visiting hours Monday 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3291, General Relief Fund, P.O. Box 1399, Pepperell, MA 01463.
