Richard A. Tuttle, Jr. of Shirley, Army Vet; 79 SHIRLEY -- Richard A. Tuttle, Jr., 79, of Shirley, died on August 20th, 2015. He was born in Boston, MA, on July 25, 1936. Richard grew up in Belmont, MA relocating to Fairview Park, OH his Junior year at Belmont High School. He graduated from Fairview Park High School in 1954 where he was a member of championship football and track teams. He attended The Ohio State University, majoring in Engineering, prior to enlisting in the US Army, Army Security Agency, in November of 1956. Richard attended the Army Security Agency training school at Fort Devens, MA prior to deploying to West Germany where he met his wife, Anna in 1959. He completed his education at Kent State University where he graduated with a BA in mathematics. His professional career was spent at Aetna Life & Casualty for over 30 years where he held management positions and also attained the coveted Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) professional designation. He achieved the designation of American Insurance Association Associate in Risk Management, as well as President of the RI CPCU chapter for two terms. In 1986, Richard was promoted to manage the Boston office and relocated to Franklin, MA until his retirement from Aetna in 1996. Richard subsequently held several Safety Engineering managerial positions on large construction projects. During his lifetime, he was active in numerous civic organizations, primarily the Lions Club where he was a multi-term president. Richard loved the mountains and lakes of New Hampshire and always treasured the times spent at the family summer camp on Lake Winnipesaukee along with the summers spent at his mother's birthplace farm near Lewiston, ME. Richard was an avid golfer and swimmer. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father and will be deeply missed. Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anna K. Tuttle; daughter, Margo A. Tuttle; and son, Richard J. Tuttle of Shirley, MA.
