Richard A. Hammerbeck of Fitchburg, Army Vet; 84 FITCHBURG -- Richard A. Hammerbeck, 84, of Fitchburg, formerly of Leominster, passed away Sunday, May 17, in River Terrace Nursing home and Rehabilitation. Richard was born in Charlton, MA on October 12, 1930, a son of the late Siegfried and Levina (Lambert) Hammerbeck. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge. For many years, Richard worked in the Worcester area as a custom upholsterer. He had served as a Deacon in the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Leominster for several years. Richard loved the outdoors, especially his vegetable and flower gardens. He enjoyed competitive target shooting, and was a member of the Leominster Rod and Gun Club, the Fitchburg Sportsman's Club, and was the past President and life member of the Grafton Fish and Game Club. Richard leaves his wife of 40 years, Judith (Andreucci) Hammerbeck of Fitchburg; children, Craig Tremblay of Worcester, Daniel Hammerbeck and his wife, Wendy of Leominster; grandchildren, Isabella and Logan; brother, Edward Hammerbeck of Worcester. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. The family would like to thank the staff of River Terrace for their outstanding care and compassion. HAMMERBECK -- At Richard's request, funeral services and burial will be held privately. Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, is directing arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant Street., Watertown, MA 02472.

Francis 'Frank' G. Harrington Former Fitchburg youth sports coach; 64 FITCHBURG -- Francis 'Frank' G. Harrington, 64, a resident of Fitchburg since 1978, died Friday, May 22, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness, at Brigham and Women's Hospital, in Boston. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Patricia A. (Hawryla) Harrington; two sons, David F. Harrington, and his wife, Caitlin of Fitchburg, and Paul C. Harrington, and his wife, Becki of Littleton; three brothers, Larry J. Harrington of Westford, MA, Michael L. Harrington of Arlington, MA and Kevin B. Harrington of Wilmington, MA; one grandson, John David Harrington; and several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Frank retired from Solo Cup Company in North Andover, MA as a Production Planning Manager in 2012. He was a 1969 graduate of Wilmington High School, where he was an accomplished track star. He was 1975 graduate of North Adams State College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a 1983 graduate of Western New England College, receiving a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance. Frank coached Fitchburg youth sports for 25 years, and was a 30-year member of the former Madonna of the Holy Rosary Parish and current member of St. Bernard's Parish @ St. Camillus Church. He was an avid sports and history fan. Most of all, he was a very dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was born in Somerville, MA on October 11, 1950, the son of the late Leo F., and Helen F. (Rea) Harrington, and grew up in Wilmington, MA, before moving to Gardner, MA and later Fitchburg in 1978. HARRINGTON -- Frank's funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27, from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard's Parish @ St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. Calling hours at the Funeral Home are on Tuesday, May 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. Flowers may be sent, or memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Kidney Cancer Fund at www.dana-farber.org or P.O.
