Blackwell, Roberta A. "Bobbi" (Hicks)
Roberta 'Bobbi' A. (Hicks) Blackwell Formerly of Ashby, MA; 71 CHARLOTTE, NC -- Roberta "Bobbi" Ann (Hicks) Blackwell, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Ashby, 71, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 9, 2015; just eight hours short of her 72nd birthday. Bobbi was born in Lawrence to the late Andrena McCoubry (Rennie) and Joseph Hicks on April 10, 1943. She is predeceased by her sister, Andrena Smith, and her brother, Joseph Hicks. She is survived by her three children, Tammy Breen (Chiarenza) and her husband, James Breen of Ashby, Michael Chiarenza of Clinton, and Craig Chiarenza of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Alan Vega of Fitchburg, Kara Breen of Gardner, Patricia Breen, James Breen and Sean Breen, all of Ashby, Kaylynn Chiarenza and Philip Chiarenza of Leominster, Ryan Chiarenza and Kaylee Chiarenza of Townsend; three great-grandchildren of Fitchburg; many fond nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives; as well as many close friends who proved that you don't have to have the same blood to be part of her family. Not being one to ever be told how to do anything, Bobbi's strong, determined personality showed cancer a thing or two over the last eight years as she courageously faced her battle. Bobbie worked for 20 years as a court reporter for Burke Court Reporting, LLC. Bobbi was so proud of her grandchildren, loved her family and friends, and found great happiness in sight-seeing and traveling, sewing and needlepoint, building things with her hands, spoiling and walking her dog Max, and watching her Patriots win the Super Bowl. While Bobbi's dreams of going to Scotland and Ireland fell just short of coming true, those who knew her absolutely know she made a stop there before going Home and is probably still touring her list of castles and having "just one more cup of tea" in the wildwood. Her love made a difference in the lives of so many and she will be greatly missed. Keeping with Bobbi's wishes, the family will celebrate her life together privately. The family wishes to thank all of those who touched Bobbi's life in so many ways, those who cared for her during her illness and those who helped her live her life to the fullest. In lieu of flowers, please celebrate her life with us by enjoying your family, living life for each day and for the present it truly is. In the words of Frank Sinatra, "I did it my way". And she did.
