Longtime Westminster resident

WESTMINSTER -- Celia F. (Chace) Lamsa, 92, a resident of Westminster since 1949, died Saturday, June 15, 2013, in her home, after a short illness surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband of 53 years, Toivo W. Lamsa, died in 1995.

She leaves two sons, Dean A. Lamsa of Southboro, MA, and Justin C. Lamsa, and his wife, Leeann, of Westminster; two brothers, Williston Chace of Fall River, MA, and Loring Chace of Monroe, NH; two grandchildren, Alixandra Lamsa, and her husband, Devlin Carey, of Seattle, WA, and Lt. Katrina Lamsa, with the U.S. Marine Corp. in Pensacola, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Kent M. Lamsa of Fitchburg in 1996, and two brothers, Quentin and Walter Chace, and one sister, Esther Humphrey.

Mrs. Lamsa was a Home Economics teacher at Narragansett Regional High School in Templeton from 1961 to 1977. She also assisted her husband, at their former Westminster dairy farm, known as Toice Farm.

Celia was an active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Fitchburg, a member of the Finnish Choir, and the Women's Auxiliary of the Westminster V.F.W. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband, crafts, sewing, cooking, and gardening.

Celia was a 1937 graduate of Joseph Case High School in Swansea, MA, and was a graduate of Framingham State College.

She was born in Swansea, MA on March 18, 1921, a daughter of the late Anthony F., and Ethel (Cady) Chace.

LAMSA -- Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 20, at 11:00 a.m. in the Messiah Lutheran Church, 750 Rindge Rd., Fitchburg. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery in Westminster. Calling hours at the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 123 Main St., Westminster are on Wednesday, June 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Benefit Fund, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, P.O.
