Clara M. (Wyman) Morand-Smith, 79
FITCHBURG -- Clara M. (Wyman) Morand-Smith, 79, a Fitchburg area resident, died Sunday, Jan. 6, surrounded by her loving family at her son's home, after a long illness.
Her first husband, Richard E. Morand Sr., died in 2006. Her second husband, Richard Smith, died in 1995.
She leaves two sons, Dr. Richard E. Morand, and his wife, Diane Howard-Morand, of Manchester, ME and Peter A. Morand Sr., and his companion, Susan Cormier, of Leominster; one daughter, Deborah J. Helle' of Millbury, MA; four sisters, Prudy Linsdey of Tennessee, Sadie Bigelow of Cornville, ME, Eva Robbins-Emmett of Idaho, and Abigail Letorneau of Leominster; 5 grandchildren, Peter A. Morand Jr., Jessica F. Perrault, Jillian E. Morand, Siiri Kaaterina Helle' and Kyle H. Morand; one great-granddaughter, Raegan Frances Perrault; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph E. Morand in 1982.
Mrs. Smith was a self-employed Home Care Professional, employed by several area families over the years.
She was a life long member of the former St. Bernard's Parish in Fitchburg. She was a 1951 graduate of Leominster High School and also attended the former Atlantic Union College in Lancaster, MA. She was an avid lover of flowers, gardening, birds, cooking, sewing, knitting and puzzles and fostered homeless kittens for many years. She had a special affection for her grandchildren, and her great-granddaughter.
Clara was born in Townsend, MA, on March 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Clarence L., and Rose S. (Hildreth) Wyman.
MORAND-SMITH -- Her Funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, Jan. 9, from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli and Fitchburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernard's Parish @ St. Camillus de lellis Church, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg.
Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg.
Calling hours at the Funeral Home are on Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 9:30 a.m. till the time of the Mass.
