LEOMINSTER -- Donald W. Brause, 89 formerly of Leominster, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013. He is survived by son Tom Brause and his wife Karen of Leominster, their children Benjamin Brause, Tommie Calisti and her husband Charlie and Adam Brause, daughter Helen Silberman and her husband Bill of Atlantic Beach, NY, their children Jeffrey Silberman and Amanda Silberman, son Bob Brause of Leadville, CO, sister Dot Czarnota of Southington, CT and a great- grandson. He was predeceased by his wife Helen M. (Boland) Brause in 1989.
Donald was born September 19, 1923 in New Britain, CT and was a recent resident of Leominster at Sunrise Assisted Living from 2009 to 2012. He graduated from New Britain High School in 1941 and from Auburn University in 1948. He played baseball and football at Auburn University. He was a
World War II U.S.
Army Veteran, serving in the European Theater. Donald had a 35 year career with General Electric as an engineer working in Lynn, Fitchburg and Schenectady, NY. He was an avid golfer, runner, cyclist and traveler.
BRAUSE -- A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:30 am in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Charles Lawn Cemetery in Reading at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 5, 2013. There are no calling hours. The Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster is assisting the family with arrangements.
